So this is totally separate from the main MC platform? How are things coming as far as getting video integrated there? Is this a first step?

That's right it's a completely new event type, separate from the main platform. I'm actually working in the documentation for the integrated video in Social Webinar, so I'll be announcing the feature here in the forums in the coming days! :)

Sorry, I left a comment but it was in the wrong process.

Yes, I played with the new simple video. It is easy for the other person to click the link and join the video. I like that.

As I had my husband test it with me, I was able to see both his and my experience of the visual and audio aspects of the video.

What I had problems with were:

    1. the video was fuzzy on both are screens - not terrible - it just softens everyone's features - not crisp as it is with Skype or Zoom. As we both have new video cameras on our computers, I don't think it was our equipment.

    2. audio - as the presenter, I was able to hear the other person well. However, as the client/customer - on their end it was garbling my speech to them...dropping bits of words. This would be a big problem if it had been a webinar I was hosting. We did both try wearing our headsets to see if this made a difference on either end. It didn't.

What do you see as the benefit of adding this type of video to MaestroC - and how would it be used with small group breakouts?

Will you be making on going updates to this software? Should I try again soon?

    Thanks, Elaine Hansen

Hi Elaine, thanks for trying out this feature!

I’m thinking the reduced video quality could be because you were uploading and downloading two video and audio streams at the same time using the same Internet connection, but I could be wrong.

Either way, I can definitely see some quality differences between Skype and our video, so I’ll have the engineers check if they can increase the video and audio quality.

I think live video offers a level of engagement that audio only conferences simply can’t touch, but is thechnically more demanding for both the host and the participants, that’s why we wanted to have “Simple Video Meetings”, that are very easy to create and join, and are separate from the regular Social Webinar conferences. If you want to try video breakouts you can with our Video in Social Webinar feature, that’s also in beta.

We will be constantly adding improvements to this feature with every monthly release, so your feedback is invaluable to us.

    Thanks again!

I am excited to see you are adding the simple video feature!

When I tried it with one client, we found:

      1. the quality of the video to be pixelated

      2. the sound had a big delay

We ended up switching over to Zoom and had better luck there.

It was also inconvenient to only be available in chrome. Will there be other options in the future?

Thank you very much for the report Jennah, having Zoom work fine probably rules out bandwidth issues on your side, so we'll be investigating what happened.

Having it work in Chrome only is unfortunately a side effect of the main benefit of Simple Video Meetings: you don't need to download anything to host/attend it. It's a very new technology and browsers will start adopting it sooner or later (Firefox should implement it very soon).

    Thanks again!

    Best,

Wondering if you all have collected any troubleshooting advice for folks trying to use this service. We've experienced a decent amount of difficulty getting people into video rooms successfully, lots of folks just seeing blank screens.

Hi! We're seeing some reports of audio being out of sync with video and we're investigating it for a fix, but definitely no reports of blank screens. Do you have any more details?
